Let’s talk about mayonnaise. No, it’s not the sexiest spread out there, but it just got a little hotter thanks to Empire Mayonnaise Co. Think mayo + any delicious flavor you can think of in one spread– like walnut, saffron, bacon, white truffle, wasabi, black garlic, and lime pickle.
They use natural and organic local eggs and flavors whenever possible, but their primary goal is to make the best tasting and most interesting mayonnaise possible, so they do source ingredients from all over the world. AND of course, it’s made right here in Brooklyn.
Visit Empire Mayonnaise Co. at their store at 564 Vanderbilt Ave or just shop online.

A much needed coffee shop opened on Pearl Street in Dumbo this week. Archway Cafe is serving up hot and cold coffee drinks, specialty sandwiches, and freshly baked bagels, croissants, and muffins. The owner knows a little bit about muffins, as he used to be the owner of DUMBO Muffin, which was located just a couple storefronts down. The new space is much larger, offering a downstairs floor available for events, as well as a slightly higher level with seating. Much like an art gallery, the Archway Cafe’s walls are covered with local pieces that will rotate over time.
I recommend trying the soy latte– it’s perfect for a rainy day like today. Head over to Pearl Street to try it today, but look carefully, the cafe doesn’t have signage yet!
