To me, summer equals sunshine, beach trips, alfresco dining, and of course, sangria. While in my old Manhattan neighborhood, I knew every restaurant that offered the fruity concoction within a 10 block radius. But now that I’m in Brooklyn, I have to scope out all the local spots to find the best glasses in my area– not that I’m complaining. My latest discovery? Cubana Cafe in Carroll Gardens. The bright and colorful restaurant offers a selection of authentic Cuban dishes like the stuffed poblano chile, molete refried beans, and ceviche. On top of the flavorful food, there’s an even better list of summery cocktails, perfect for sipping on a hot day.
I recommend the shrimp quesadilla and the banana chips– but more importantly, the sangria.

I love Cubana Cafe but 2x out of the 3x I’ve been there, the sangria isn’t strong at all– very watered down. Was it the same for you?
Hmmm… it was good for me! That’s too bad that it’s not consistent! When it’s good, it’s good. I usually go for the mojitos there though.
